My utopia

A 'what would it look like' list for Christians to think about.  Heh, no ones perfect....I know that.  You may have some of these things nailed down.....I still have alot of work to do.  Heh, its food for thought - let it provoke you.

What would your church or community look like if.....

What would it look like if  - we really meant what we said.  Like when we say we are going to pray for someone....we really do.

What would it look like if - we refused to use christian cliche's.

What would it look like if - we choose to forgive even when someone doesn't deserve it.  Like forgiving the person who abused you when you were a kid.

What would it look like if - we wiped the self righteous smirk off our face and realize that we dont know it all.

What would it look like if - we stopped pretending.

What would it look like if - we started 'being'.

What would it look like if - we practiced true humility.

What would it look like if - we actually did give our money to those around us that really need....like the single mom down the street that can't feed her family.

What if we gave with no strings attatched.

What if she didn't even know it was you who gave it.

What would it look like if  -we stopped judging and started loving unconditionally.

What would it look like if - we used our words to build up and not tear down.

What would it look like if - we shut up.

What would it look like if - we spoke up.

What would it look like if - we knew how to include.

What would it look like if - other people outside of our community of faith had a really good opinion of us.

What would it look like if - we never went to another conference again.

What would it look like if - we were honest with ourselves.

What would it look like if - we knew how to be a true friend.  I mean a really good one.

What would it look like if - we were fair and just.

This is only a few things I thought of.  I am sure you could think of more. One of my favorite artists is Alanis Morissete.  She sings a song called Utopia.  Maybe you have heard it.  I think that song is applicable to this list.  Listen to it sometime....maybe you'll agree.

Are these things attainable?  Is it possible?  I don't know.  What I do know is, I am trying.  I really am.

heh, just a note: no I don't listen to every single one of her songs.... some of the lyrics are well...need I say more? But, I like her openness, passion and vulnerability as an artist. That's rare. - Christine G

absolutely. let's get over it. let's get into it. this is perfect.
none of what christine is talking about is easy. if it were easy jesus wouldn't've said it was like carrying a cross.
that has nothing to do with whether it's good.
