farther down

farther down
onto the side of the road
we look into the open windows
searching for a place to hide
where the darkness is swallowed up
and the growling moments
have become fewer and less distinct
into our ears as we watch each other
planting in the garden, and watering
and cultivating the begotten soil
ashes to ashes and dust to dust
we enter the cold places to bring
warmth to our split visions
if only we could be together
like a team of wild horses
flowing in a rapid gallop
our hair blowing in the wind
as we look into each others eyes
to find that opening transparent
beyond the naked twilight
where we have renounced our
immoral passions to wait
in the distance for the right
moment to occur in commitment
you look at me without
discrimination
without obligation
while the kisses of our mouths
penetrate our hearts
vast wilderness
and we smile back at death
as if it was our friend
without fear we turn our backs
to the jealousy of  betrayal
and infuse the freedom of forgiveness
past the wounded memories
and haunting sounds in our hearts
farther down
where every cell of our beings
cry out for connection
cohesion, relationship
bonding into ones own
family where tears
reach in and tie you forever
and not separate
the life that you breathe
farther down
